Whitechapel Art Gallery :: Visitors' Map of London :: A-Z Maps
Whitechapel Art GalleryFounded in 1901 to bring art to the culturally deprived London 'East End', the gallery is an outstanding example of the Arts and Crafts movement, designed by Charles Townsend.
Internationally acclaimed for its exhibitions of modern and contemporary art and its education and public events programmes, the Gallery has premiered many international artists, Picasso, Kahlo, Pollock and Rothko among them. Now newly restored and enlarged the gallery shows a programme of changing exhibitions of national and international interest.
