The Old Vic Theatre: Opened as the Royal Coburg in 1818 and has since had a long and colourful history undergoing numerous changes of identity and character both as a theatre and music hall. Highlights include 1912-37 under the management of Lillian Baylis produced classic drama, opera and ballet. In 1931 The Old Vic Sadler's Wells Ballet Company was formed, led by Ninette de Valois and Sadler's Wells Theatre opens as Baylis' second theatre. 1962- 1976 the home of the National Theatre Company prior to their move to the South Bank. 1982 undergoes a major restoration. 2003 formation of the Old Vic Theatre Company.
