St Magnus ChurchSt Magnus the Martyr was the second ancient city church to be engulfed by flames in the Great Fire of London, it was rebuilt by Wren 1671 -87, its square tower has an impressive octagonal lantern with spire added 1705. Built on the line of old London Bridge, the large projecting clock of 1700 was a significant London landmark to all entering the City from the south until the mid-18th century, when the new bridge was constructed upstream,
Being spared damage in World War II, the church has a particularly fine 17th century interior with much wood and iron work including a sword rest of 1708; there is a model of the medieval London Bridge.
