Shakespeare's Globe & Exhibition :: Visitors' Map of London :: A-Z Maps
Shakespeare's Globe & ExhibitionThis reconstructed 1599 Globe Theatre, is the first thatched building to be built in the centre of London since the Great Fire 1666. The complex includes a Theatre Tour and Exhibition devoted to Shakespeare and the London in which he worked and lived, a summer season of plays presented in the open air Globe Theatre, and a second indoor venue, the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse designed in the style of a Jacobean theatre to provide a year round performance space.
Shakespeare's Globe was founded by the American actor and director Sam Wanamaker and completed in 1997. It is a unique international resource dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote, through the connected means of performance and education.
