Founded in 1907 on the amalgamation of the Royal School of Mines, the Royal College of Science and the City and Guilds College thus creating the seat of learning envisaged for South Kensington by Prince Albert. Imperial College London is now amongst the world's leading science-based universities with a high reputation for in teaching and research.

The huge campus has a variety of both older and state-of-the-art modern buildings and it incorporates the impressive 287 ft Queen's Tower of the former Imperial Institute. There are a number of satellite campus sites across south London.
