Dutch ChurchFounded by the Dutch and French Protestant refugees granted rights to settle in London by Edward VI in 1550. They adopted the former church of the Augustinian Monks or 'Austin Friars' who had been evicted at the dissolution of the monasteries in 1538, the church, a magnificent example of decorated Gothic architecture rich with important monuments was destroyed in by World War II bombing. In 1950 the foundation stone of the present church was laid by the Dutch Royal Family. It is ecumenical and welcomes all religious traditions.
