Brompton OratoryAlso known as The London Oratory; a Roman Catholic church served by secular priests of the Institute of the Oratory founded in 16th Century Rome. The church, completed 1884 to designs by Herbert Gribble, is in monumental Italian Baroque style, its dome rising to 200ft The interior of lavish marble floors, columns and statuary, contains 17th century carvings, an altarpiece from Italy; in the forecourt stands a statue of Cardinal Newman, who reintroduced the order to England in 1847
It is well known for its fine musical services.
