London A-Z Master Atlas (Pocket PC Edition)
This publication has been designed for a Windows® Mobile-based Pocket PC (version 2002 or later). The map covers 3743 sq km (1445 sq miles) of London, the same area as the current Master Atlas of Greater London and extends beyond the Greater London and M25 area to Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Potters Bar, Waltham Cross, Epping, Brentwood, Thurrock, Stanford-le-Hope, Gravesend, Wrotham, Sevenoaks, Westerham, Oxted, Redhill, Reigate, Leatherhead, Great Bookham, Woking, Egham, Windsor, Slough, Chalfont St. Peter, Chorleywood and Bovingdon. Major buildings are colour-coded to indicate places of interest and other buildings that are open to the public.
Full postcode search is included with this product. Just like the street search, type in the postcode you are looking for and its location is displayed quickly on the screen.
Connect a GPS receiver to show your location as well as direction and speed of travel.
Automatic map selection
If multiple maps are stored covering the same area, the largest scale map is selected automatically.
High quality maps
Detailed colour maps taken from the original paper version have been used.
Moving around the map
Simply click and drag the stylus on the screen to move the map.
You can save positions on a map, allowing quick return later, or set a location as your home allowing the map to always start from that location.
Zooming in and out
Enlarge or reduce the map by using the magnifying glass symbols on the toolbar.
The fully searchable index of over 353,000 entries includes streets, postcodes, districts, stations, hospitals, junctions and selectedplaces of interest. Clicking an entry in the search results quicklydisplays a map showing its location.
Extra Index Information
The index shows additional information, such as postal districts for streets and telephone numbers for hospitals. Stations in the index show whether a mainline rail or underground connection is available. If a street is too small to be shown on the map it will still be included in the index with a note showing its location.
You can use the Pocket A-Z to show the direction of travel from one location to another. Place the 'person' icon at the start location on the map then place a 'flag' icon at the destination. By clicking the 'show direction' icon an arrow appears indicating the direction of travel required as the crow flies between the two points. If the map is re-centred whilst travelling, the arrow will re-adjust to show the new direction to the destination.
Additional maps are also available online. Pocket A-Z maps can be installed on to a storage card to provide a useful library of maps which can be added and removed as required.
This map is also avaliable for a Windows PC and Symbian S60 Smartphone.
Windows® Mobile-based Pocket PC (version 2002 or later). Master Atlas of Greater London requires at least 100MB free storage space. Installer requires PC with Windows® 2000 or XP and a connection to a Pocket PC.
