We would love to introduce you to Gin, owner and founder of MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays. As Gin had recently set up this business, she wanted to provide her guests with a fantastic information pack which included a detailed, easy to read Norfolk Coast Path map. Following the opening of the new section of the England Coast Path, Sea Palling to Hopton-on-Sea on the Suffolk border in 2016, Gin soon found there was no official mapping for this section, causing a problem for her guests who would be eager to walk this section.
Fortunately, we were able to support Gin’s wonderful new venture by providing her with our brand new Norfolk Coast Path and Peddars Way Adventure Atlases. The A-Z Adventure Series of maps combines the best of Ordnance Survey and A-Z creating the perfect companion for walkers, off-road cyclists, horse riders and anyone wishing to explore the great outdoors.
“Hello! I’m Gin and I’m a tent elf.
The Norfolk Coast has had a huge influence on me throughout my life. It’s always been my ‘go to’ place for walking, holidays, spending time with friends and family, inspiration for artwork, watching wildlife and sometimes just finding some ‘me time’ on one of the many vast expanses of sandy beaches, quite often with no one else around.
Following some significant physical and then career challenges, I made the big decision to develop a business that incorporated what I loved to do the most, walking the breath-taking Norfolk Coastline, by enabling others to be able to do the same.
So, MarGins Walking and Glamping Holidays was launched in December 2016. Our guests (and their pooches) can immerse themselves in walking the Norfolk Coast Path National Trail through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and experience the breath-taking coastline whilst us tent elves put up their glamping accommodation along the way and transfer their luggage.
My husband Mark, my niece Charlotte and my beloved pooch Miss Brylie, help out with tent elf duties when they can, so it really is a family business.
We provide 2-person safari style tents with an added touch of luxury plus a scrummy breakfast hamper of Norfolk produce is provided each day. The campsites are situated close to the coast path, so after our guests have enjoyed a day of walking the beautiful Norfolk Coastline they will be welcomed at their next glamping location, by the sight of their remade, restocked accommodation.
We have 3 suggested walking packages and are happy to tailor one to meet our guest’s requirements. The Norfolk Coast Path covers 84 miles of the Norfolk Coastline commencing in Hunstanton on the North Norfolk coast and finishes now as part of the England Coast Path in Hopton-on-Sea on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.
Our guests are all provided with an Information Pack lovingly written by me after re-walking the coast path that includes notes on the route, places to eat, things to do, where the toilet facilities are and much more plus an A-Z Norfolk Coast Path Adventure Atlas that provides the full route for our guests to follow.
The Norfolk Coast Path is one of the gentler National Trails and classified as ‘moderate’ by many walkers. The terrain is varied but is generally flat or with gentle gradients. The route is particularly suitable for anyone new to long-distance walking. Forgetting the stress of day-to-day life is incredibly easy when you take in the breath-taking scenery from salt marshes, cliffs, dunes, spectacular beaches, mesmerizing sea and the famous big skies of Norfolk.
For me, I have to keep pinching myself that my daily commute will be all along the stunning Norfolk Coastline enabling people to enjoy some of my favourite spots. Such as, the view as you walk to the vast expanse of Holkham beach from Burnham Overy Staithe, Thornham harbour sunrise and sunset, the vast expanse of Stiffkey beach at low tide after a mud hopping stroll across the saltmarshes, the seals that pop up to greet you around Horsey beach, the vast expanse of sand dunes at Winterton-on-Sea and so much more but I can’t give all the secrets away now, that’s for our guests to find out for themselves.”
“The Norfolk Coast Path is a wonderful and varied walk, with changing scenery, beautiful wildlife and lovely villages. Our Oz tent was comfortable and sturdy, with every little home comfort provided, and Gin’s attention to detail meant our evenings were relaxing and restful. The campsites were all excellent, just beside the coastal path. Thank you for a great holiday! I’d love to walk the path again, with MarGins glamping holidays of course!” – Guest feedback
