Built in 1891 with an impressive concave window pierced façade that dominates Cambridge Circus. It was commissioned for Richard D’Oyly Carte and opened as the short lived Royal English Opera House, in 1892 becoming The Palace Theatre of Varieties and then the Palace Theatre in 1911. With its large auditorium this has long been a popular venue for fashionable musicals and revues, and has now been the venue for long important running musicals for many years.
