Peacock Theatre

Owned by the London School of Economics, the Peacock Theatre functions as a lecture theatre by day and as home of Sadler's Wells' West End dance productions in the evening. The history of theatre on this site dates from the 17th century; the London Opera House was constructed here in 1911 following the massive rebuilding of the area centred on Aldwych and Kingsway, this was later demolished and replaced in 1960 with The Royalty Theatre, sited in the basement of the modern redevelopment. Renamed Peacock Theatre by the LSE.
