Roosevelt Memorial

Britain's personal memorial to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, famous for the Depression era 'New Deal' and a for his role as a World War II leader. Following the Second World War 160,000 contributions of five shillings each closed the public subscription list to fund the memorial in less than 6 days.

The statue was unveiled by Eleanor Roosevelt on April 12, 1948, and dedicated by U.S. Ambassador before an audience including the Royal Family, the then Prime Minister Clement Attlee and Winston Churchill, Leader of the Opposition.
