Lancaster House

A Victorian mansion commenced in 1825 for the Duke of York. York House, as it was then known was completed in 1840 by R. Smirke with florid decoration by Charles Barry. The Grand staircase and State rooms created a stunning backdrop for the collection of paintings and objects d’art, many of which are still in the house today.

Managed by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and used mainly for Government conferences.
