Riverside park laid out as a to commemorate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977.
On the riverside walk is a bronze memorial to the casualties of the International Brigades of the Spanish Civil War, also a giant flagpole originally erected at the 1951 Festival of Britain by the Forest Industry of British Columbia and re-erected here in 1977 to mark the Queen's Jubilee.
